2009 Presidential Inauguration

In 2008 President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden’s Inaugural Committee extended an invitation to the Des Moines based Isiserettes Drill and Drum Corp to march in the Inaugural Parade on January 20, 2009. This is a very high honor for the group who has participated in several events in Iowa for the President-elect during his historic run for the White House.

In an official release from the President-elect he praised the Isiserettes and the other groups selected to participate in the parade. He went on to say that he and Vice President-elect Biden were, “…proud to have them join us in the parade.”

Having received the official invitation, the Isiserettes raised funds to pay for transportation to the festivities and lodging. We came up with $50,000 to cover our expenses to take part in the parade, and so 50 youngsters and five adult chaperons to Washington. Click here to see the letter.
